What to Bring to Your Consultation
- Your referral information or surgical referral slip, when applicable
- Relevant X-rays or imaging if the referring office has not sent them
- A current list of prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and supplements
- Dental insurance information
- Photo identification and any forms requested by the office
- A parent or legal guardian for every patient under age 18
What to Expect During the Visit
Dr. Udy reviews your health history, medications, referral, symptoms, and available imaging. She examines the area of concern and explains the diagnosis, treatment options, anesthesia considerations, and expected sequence of care.
This is also the time to ask questions about preparation, recovery, coordination with your dentist or orthodontist, and anything that could affect scheduling.
Health and Medication Information
Tell our team about allergies, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart conditions, artificial joints or valves, bleeding disorders, pregnancy, previous anesthesia concerns, and recent changes in your health.
Do not stop aspirin, anticoagulants, or another prescribed medication unless the prescribing clinician and Dr. Udy give you instructions. Bring an accurate medication list rather than relying on memory.
X-Rays and Additional Imaging
Ask your dentist, orthodontist, or physician to send relevant images before the appointment. If they cannot be transferred in time, call us to ask whether you should bring a copy. Additional panoramic or CBCT imaging may be recommended when existing records do not show the information needed for surgical planning.
If IV Anesthesia Is Planned
The office will provide specific fasting, transportation, clothing, medication, and escort instructions when IV anesthesia or sedation is scheduled. Do not fast or change medications for a consultation unless our team has told you to do so.
